Ed Sheeran’s album surpasses 1 billion streams on Spotify

Ed Sheeran thanked his fans by revealing that more than a billion people have listened to his new album.

The singer, 30, released his fourth solo studio album =, or Equals, last week. This is the final installment in the singer-songwriter’s series of mathematical symbols.

The album, which was among the most anticipated musical releases of the year, features Irish number one singles Thrill and bad Habits.

Beside an image that showed the album’s streaming stats, Sheeran wrote on Instagram, “= (equal) hit a billion streams on @spotify.

“Thank you very much for all the love and for listening to it as much as you did.

“I’m so proud of it, glad you like it as much as I do.” Have a great weekend x. “

Its new version follows that of 2017 To divide.

The album comes after Sheeran married longtime partner Cherry Seaborn in 2019 and welcomed daughter Lyra Antarctica the following year.

The singer tested positive for Covid-19 less than a week before the album’s release and was forced to give interviews and scheduled performances from his home.
