Patriarch Bartholomew left Ukraine

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was in Ukraine at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of independence.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew completed his visit to Kiev and left Ukraine. This was announced on Tuesday, August 24 in Facebook Deputy Head of the Department for External Church Relations of the OCU Evstratiy Zorya.

“The Patriarch said goodbye to Ukraine.“ Thanks and blessings to everyone! ”Zorya wrote.

For its part, the Spiritual Front of Ukraine led the words of the patriarch about the Ukrainian people – noble and proud, who “does not want to live under the yoke.”

“That is why people wanted independence until they got it. And they wanted their own independent local church, which they also received by God’s grace,” Bartholomew said, according to the Spiritual Front of Ukraine.

As a reminder, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople held together with the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius open-air liturgy at the Sophia Cathedral in Kiev.
