Thiago Durán, Jaime García, Juan Miño and Eduardo Naranjo were proclaimed champions of the XVII edition of the Ecuajuniors Finals that took place at the Salinas Golf & Tennis Club on December 9 and 10.
In the unified 11 year old category, Thiago Durán (Manta) beat Denis Salazar (Samborondón) by retirement. The score was 1 to 2 in games and Denis suffered discomfort in his shoulder and had to retire.
Jaime García, in 13 years unified, defeated Jorge Delgado (Samborondón) 6-4, 6-2. In unified 14+, Juan Miño (Quito) defeated Jorge Delgado (Guayaquil) 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
In 10 years (Pelotas Verdes), Eduardo Naranjo (Salinas) defeated Helena Zambrano 10-5, 10-9.
In this last tournament of the Ecuajunior Circuit, 82 players from 35 academies from Guayaquil, Milagro, Quito, Manta, Cuenca, Portoviejo, Salinas, Samborondón, Babahoyo, Quevedo, Machala, Esmeraldas, Jipijapa, Ambato, Riobamba, El Empalme and Santo Domingo participated. .
“Ecuajuniors Finals is the last tournament that calls for the 16 best ranked in each category. The SGTC was filled with joy and a lot of movement with the arrival of players and family members, according to María José Santander, member of the board of directors of the Ecuadorian Tennis Federation and manager of the club. For the FET’s Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) program, eight scholarships were awarded to the best tennis players. In a few days, the winners of the Ecuajunior 2023 Circuit will be announced, who will be the recipients of the scholarships at Núñez Tennis Training (United States).
