(Quito DM, July 22, 2021.-) The Ecuadorian Red Cross, in compliance with its humanitarian role of the public powers of the State, has been carrying out actions to support the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) in response to the health emergency caused by COVID-19.
On this occasion, the Institution made the donation of 58,000 syringes in order to support the Vaccination Plan 9/100 carried out by the national government. This is the second syringe donation; the first was held on June 16 when it was delivered 140,000 syringes. In this way; We reiterate our support to the Ministry of Public Health, joining forces to strengthen the inter-institutional response to COVID-19.
This donation is of great importance since “Ecuadorian Red Cross is an Institution that contributes with capacities and competencies to the actions of the National Government to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. We join the government’s goal for vaccination and mitigating the impact of the pandemic that not only affects the country, but the entire world ”, affirmed the National President of the Ecuadorian Red Cross, Dr. Roque Soria Vasco.
For its part, the National Undersecretary of Public Health Governance of the Ministry of Health, Mgtr. Gabriela Aguinaga placeholder image, assured that “The Ecuadorian Red Cross has carried out great actions during the COVID-19 pandemic; their humanitarian action motivates us to look for more allies to reactivate the country, since we are all Ecuadorians and it is everyone’s duty to reactivate the country ”.
Ecuadorian Red Cross and the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) pledged to strengthen their ties in humanitarian action and work in a coordinated way so that the vaccination campaign meets the objective, not only of the National Government but also of the citizens, of having the largest number of the population inoculated against the COVID-19.
Additionally, for the vaccination campaign 9/100 against COVID-19, Ecuadorian Red Cross has provided support through its Provincial Boards in different lines of action, with humanitarian personnel and sensitizing citizens at all times and places with campaigns and key messages that promote the vaccination process.
Through our actions, the Institution has reached a total of 1,015,850 beneficiaries at the country level through the following lines of action: Health; livelihoods; humanitarian aid; access to safe water; blood donation; among others.
