Charlotte, NC.- After being on a ‘pause’ since 2019, when it was last in the city, the mobile unit of the Ecuadorian Consulate in Atlanta will return to Charlotte in mid-September to assist its compatriots living in the area to process a series of documents.
“Unfortunately we have not been able to reactivate the mobile consulates due to problems that we only have one device that the Civil Registry has provided us and they cannot leave the office due to the entire computer and connection system that it has.“said Juan Veintimilla Aulestia, Consul of Ecuador in Atlanta, in an interview with HOLA News in May 2023, when asked about the absence of these consular visits to Charlotte.
SERVICES
After 5 years of absence, the Mobile Consulate of Ecuador in Atlanta will be in Charlotte on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15, where it will be serving with the following services:
Passports (renewal and first time): The procedure is personal and in person. On the day of the appointment, the original passport or identity card must be presented, along with a sworn statement, if the passport is not available. The cost of issuing the biometric passport is $90 (in cash); sworn statement, $25 (in cash); index card, $10 (in cash). The document will be delivered 30 to 45 days from the day of your appointment by mail.
People over 65 years of age will have a 50% exemption on the passport fee. People with a disability equal to or greater than 30% will have a 100% exemption on the passport fee. They must present their identity card.

Passports for minors under 18 years of age: Both parents must be present with their respective identification, accompanying the minor. If the parents are Ecuadorian, they must present (Ecuadorian ID or passport), if they are of another nationality, (passport).
General and special powers: They must present a valid or original Ecuadorian passport or Ecuadorian citizenship card. The cost is $60 (cash).
Special power for procedures involving minors: It covers the topics of obtaining a passport, visas, exit authorizations, requesting documents for the minor, procedures at the Civil Registry, etc. Only the father, mother or legal guardian who is going to give the power must attend this appointment, bringing all the information of the minor. The cost is $60 dollars (in cash).
