Quito. Ecuadorian military found a arsenal of long-range weapons, ammunition and nearly three tons of controlled substances that were hidden in the Lagarto estuary, in the Vinces canton of the coastal province of Los Ríos, the Armed Forces reported this Sunday, January 21.

The institution indicated in its account red social X that the discovery was made during a military operation, in addition to sharing a video of the seized material and a photograph of a person guarded by Army troops.
For its part, the Army complemented on the same social network that the operation was carried out thanks to “military intelligence” information.
He explained that the seized arsenal includes 12 rifles and high caliber ammunitionas well as about three tons of drugs.
The operation occurs a day after the Ecuadorian Armed Forces will locate a semi-submersible loaded with 3.2 tons of substances subject to control32 nautical miles (59.2 kilometers) off the coast of the province of Esmeraldas (northwest), bordering Colombia.
The naval action, carried out in coordination with the Colombian Navy and the National Police, left three Colombian citizens detained.
The operations occur at times when the Ecuadorian Armed Forces They carry out actions against organized crime groups linked to drug trafficking classified by the government as “terrorists.”
The South American country has been in the past January 9 in a state of “internal armed conflict” declared by President Daniel Noboa, given the escalation of violence that broke out earlier with explosive attacks, armed attacks, incinerated vehicles, prison riots, police kidnappings and other criminal acts.
