In the midst of the security crisis that has plagued Ecuador since last week, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Police of that country achieved the important seizure of more than one hundred firearms inside a residence in an exclusive area of the capital, Quito.
Among the seized items were long and short weapons, as well as ammunition of different calibers. In addition, it is presumed that the place was used as a clandestine workshop for the manufacture of bullets, since machinery that would be used for these purposes was also secured.
The important seizure was announced by both security agencies during the first minutes of this Wednesday morning, and according to the information provided, the search also led to the arrest of an alleged suspect, whose legal situation is already being defined.

Likewise, the Ecuadorian Police reported that the search was carried out in a luxurious home in the parish of Cumbayá, one of the most exclusive areas of the Ecuadorian capital, Quito. Said property was placed under police guard, while the arsenal was confiscated and remained under the protection of the authority.
The Ecuadorian Prosecutor’s Office detailed that among the seized objects there are 75 long weapons and at least 33 short weapons. Without determining the number, ammunition was also seized, apparently of different calibers.
Manual presses were also found at the site, which are presumed to be used to manufacture bullets, as well as other tools that would be used in this clandestine ammunition workshop.
This important assurance occurs while Ecuador remains in a state of exception and a curfew. Despite the reinforcements to combat criminal groups, this morning the violent death of the Prosecutor in charge of the investigation into the invasion of an armed group on the TC television channel on January 9 was also announced.
