Ecuador will export mangoes to South Korea after the phytosanitary regulatory agencies of both countries have concluded the negotiations and agreed on the terms and conditions under which shipments of this fruit will be made to the South Korean market.
The Phyto and Zoosanitary Regulation and Control Agency (Agrocalidad) of Ecuador reported in a statement that this Wednesday, April 24, it received notification of the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQAfor its acronym in English) from South Korea to accept the arrival of shipments of Ecuadorian mango.
This communication specifies that the export will be carried out through hydrothermal treatment, once representatives of APQA They verified its effectiveness on a visit in 2022.
In last year’s mango campaign in Ecuadornearly 28,000 tons were certified to 58 different destinations in the world, so, with the new market opening, this figure is expected to increase.
The Ecuadorian mango represents an important milestone in the trade relations of both countries, within the framework of the trade agreement signed between Ecuador y South Korea.
