MADRID, 17 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Ministry of Energy of Ecuador, led since Tuesday by Roberto Luque, has discovered indications that the previous minister in charge of the portfolio, Andrea Arrobo, would have intentionally hidden relevant information about the operation of the electrical system and the blackouts it suffers. the South American nation for weeks.

According to the first results of the investigations ordered by President Daniel Noboa, the Ministry of Energy has determined that Arrobo, along with many other state officials, had suppressed and eliminated warnings and alerts to the Energy Crisis Committee with the aim of hiding the serious situation that the system is going through.

In this way, the Executive would have been prevented from making the appropriate decisions to face the energy crisis. “That is, the energy cuts not only responded to environmental circumstances, but also to unprecedented acts of corruption and negligence,” the Ecuadorian Government has highlighted, according to the local newspaper ‘El Universo’.

Thus, the Government of Ecuador has denounced to the Prosecutor’s Office a total of 22 “saboteurs who sought to harm all Ecuadorians, affecting their development and productivity”, although at the moment it has not been specified against who they have been complaints filed.

Arrobo was removed from office the day before after President Noboa requested her resignation following the announcement of new power cuts scheduled for that same Tuesday and Wednesday. At that time, the Government linked the energy shortage to environmental reasons, although Noboa already warned of possible sabotage.

Already this Wednesday, the Ecuadorian Executive has announced that it will maintain power outages throughout the country in the midst of a shortage crisis that has motivated the declaration of a state of emergency in the energy sector. In addition, the working day and classes in schools have been suspended for this Thursday and Friday.
