Ecuador registered 571 new cases of covid-19 and reached a cumulative of 494 819 positive infections during the pandemic, reported this Saturday, August 14, 2021, Ministry of Health in your daily epidemiological report.
The death toll confirmed by the SARS-CoV-2 virus increased by 9 compared to Friday’s record, reaching 22,503 accumulated in the pandemic, to which are added 9,451 “probable deaths”, for a total of 31 954 deaths.
On the situation in the provinces, the report specified that Pichincha accumulates the highest number of infections with 181,473 cases (197 more than the record on Friday); followed by Guayas with 68,537 infections (71 additional).
Then provinces such as Manabi (33 024), Azuay (27 397), El Oro (23 225), Loja (17 944), Imbabura (17 944), Tungurahua (15 413), Los Ríos (12 980), Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas (12 044), Cotopaxi (11 970) and Esmeraldas (9 571), among the most affected.
Ecuador launched on January 21 a vaccination plan against covid-19 and it is expected that until the end of August 9 million people will be immunized, 60% of the population.
According to him Ministry of Public HealthAs of August 13, a total of 14,578,314 vaccines against covid-19 have been applied in the country, of which 9,955,383 correspond to first doses and 4,622,931 to second applications.
Of the total doses applied, 8,637,265 came from Sinovac, 4,342,196 from Pfizer and 1 598 054 of AstraZeneca; plus 799 from china Cansino, of a single application and of which the Government has 200,000 to distribute them in remote populations, with difficult access, and inmates of prisons.
