Ecuador will start this Tuesday, May 2, a national vaccination campaign to prevent polio, measles and rubella.
Within this campaign, which will run until July 9, boys and girls from 1 to 12 years of age will be vaccinated.
The vaccines will be supplied by age, according to the Government.
The Government has indicated that this campaign will be carried out because there are boys and girls who were not vaccinated at their corresponding ages and because of the reported cases of poliomyelitis, measles and rubella in other countries.
Vaccination will initially be carried out in all educational units and public and private child care centers and in the nearest health establishments.
3.7 million children will be vaccinated against measles, polio and rubella
During these weeks, the educational districts of Guayaquil have been informing the school authorities about this booster vaccination campaign.
Vaccination brigades from the Ministry of Public Health are expected to go to the schools. In the northwest of Guayaquil, for example, schedules of vaccination dates have already been distributed.

The vaccination campaign has a cost of $8.2 million.
According to the MSP, vaccines help the immune system fight infection by triggering a response to specific diseases. In this way, if the virus or bacteria invade the body again in the future, the immune system will already be prepared to fight it. (I)
