Ecuador: CAF approves a loan for 200 million dollars | News

QUITO (AP) – The Andean Development Corporation approved a loan for 200 million dollars to combat child malnutrition in Ecuador, the Communication Secretariat reported on Thursday.

In a statement, he specified that after a meeting between President Guillermo Lasso and the president of the CAF, Sergio Díaz-Granados, an immediate disbursement of 100 million dollars was agreed “to improve the situation of the most vulnerable families.”

Díaz-Granados, who assumed that position on Wednesday, stressed that “today we are interested in being here with the government of President Lasso to strengthen this relationship … and thus identify future areas of cooperation for the benefit of the population, in social projects in the country and the strengthening of the public and private investment agenda ”.

The Minister of Economy, Simón Cueva, said that in the remainder of the week the approval of a freely available credit for 250 million is also expected to promote the government’s economic program, which shows “the seriousness and credibility of the management of President Guillermo Lasso in the international community ”.

“This helps the medium-term sustainability of the fiscal situation and public debt to be assured for the country,” he added.

Ecuador is going through a delicate economic and social situation due to the fact that during the pandemic 70% of the Ecuadorian productive apparatus was paralyzed and about 700,000 jobs were lost, to which the permanent illiquidity of the fiscal fund has contributed, which has paralyzed projects and works.
