EcoWave Power: Making Waves in Wave Energy Innovation

Jean-Francois Strouf. “EcoWave Power is one of the Israeli startups that we have been following for several years. The last time we talked about it was at the end of August 2021. They had just signed an agreement with the Israeli navy.

It’s been a successful month of April for the so-called “Princess of the Waves”, Inna Braverman. Judge for yourself:

on April 3, the company signed the first wave energy contract in Israel’s history with the National Electricity Company on April 6, Inna Braverman receives from the Association of Entrepreneurs and the Association of High Tech of Israel, the prestigious Award for women who have made a breakthrough in the field of High Tech. on April 18, Eco-wave Power opened its first branch in New York City.

The wave energy project, also known as the EWP-EDF One Project, is led in partnership and co-financed by EDF (Electricité de France) Renewables in Israel and the Israeli Ministry of Energy. The Ministry has already recognized Eco Wave’s technology as a “pioneering technology

And you know my passion for Solar Impulse Efficient solutions, Bernard Piccard’s foundation, Eco-wave Power received this label in 2018.

We moor the floats on the quays facing the waves

Floats draw energy from incoming waves by converting the up and down motion of waves into a process of generating clean energy. More precisely, the movement of the floats compresses and decompresses hydraulic pistons which transmit biodegradable hydraulic fluid into terrestrial accumulators. In accumulators, pressure builds up. This pressure spins a hydraulic motor, which spins the generator, and then the electricity is transferred into the grid, via an inverter.

The fluid, after decompression, returns to the hydraulic fluid reservoir, where it is then reused by the pistons, creating a closed circular system.

The system starts generating electricity from a wave height of 0.5 meters.

The entire operation of the system is controlled and monitored by an intelligent automation system. Additionally, when the waves are too high for the system to handle, the floats automatically rise above the water level and stay in the up position until the storm passes. Once the storm has passed, the floats return to operating mode.

It is 100% pollution free. This is what makes the originality of this project! »
