Founded by François de Leusse, mayor of La Londe-les-Maures, then chaired successively by Henri Delon, mayor of Bormes-les Mimosas, Gérard Simon, mayor of La Crau, the Intercommunal Water Supply Union of the Municipalities of the Region Est de Toulon (SIAECRET) has been a very active structure since its creation, which dates back more than 70 years.

Currently chaired by François de Canson, mayor of La Londe-les-Maures, SIAECRET brings together 3 inter-municipal authorities (EPCI), namely the Toulon Provence Méditerranée Metropolis (TPM), the Community of Mediterranean municipalities Porte des Maures (MPM) and the municipality from Carnoules (Heart of the Var).
“In its daily purpose, the union provides heritage work (new reinforcement work, extension, compliance of works, renewal work and major repairs of pipes) on behalf of the member municipalities », Explains the president of the inter-municipal structure.
Thus, it carried out rehabilitation work on the reservoirs on the various sites it owns. And, at the beginning of July, within the framework of the reception of the civil engineering rehabilitation works of the divider and of the Anguillon reservoir in Bormes-les-Mimosas and of the works at the Carnoules reservoir, the SIAECRET organized a visit of the structures, in the presence of the new elected representatives of the union.
« Visiting the factories and the work carried out under the master plan is an essential step for the newly elected officials. This is why, with our farmer VEOLIA, it was important to organize these field visits », Insists the mayor of La Londe-les-Maures.
THE UNION’S WATER RESOURCES
Today, the union includes 9 municipalities (Bormes-les-Mimosas, Carqueiranne, Carnoules, Collobrières, Hyères-les-Palmiers, La Crau, Le Lavandou, (Pierrefeu-du-Var and La Londe-les-Maures), representing a population of approximately 121,000 inhabitants for whom it provides water supply, in terms of production and conveyance, but each municipality has retained its distribution competence.
« SIAECRET does not have its own resources, since the water comes either from Lake Carcès, which belongs to the City of Toulon, or from Verdon, managed by the Société du Canal de Provence (SCP). But the union has a heritage, made up of drinking water plants, reservoirs, pumping stations and a network of pipes of 124 kilometers. », Concludes François de Canson.
