The scientific committee of the Interprofessional of Capa Blanca (Interporc), made up of experts in animal welfare and biosafety, has endorsed the “seriousness, transparency and scientific rigor” of the ‘Certified Wellness Commitment’ seal.
This badge guarantees the fulfillment of the “highest standards” of welfare, health, biosafety, animal management and traceability in all links of the value chain of pigs in Spain.
The director of Interporc, Alberto Herranz, has detailed that this seal has been evaluated and prepared by an integrated high-level scientific committee, among others. In addition, the regulation has been submitted for the consideration of companies in the sector, certifiers and organizations for the protection and defense of animals, who have provided their suggestions, so it has the technical guarantees and the necessary consensus among all those involved in animal welfare.
On the other hand, Herranz has explained that in order to obtain this certification seal, constant audits are carried out by independent certification entities, which guarantees their objectivity, and are carried out by accredited professionals with a “wide experience “in animal welfare and biosecurity.
At the moment there are 11 certification bodies authorized to carry out these audits to which 60% of pig production has already been submitted, a fact that, according to Interporc, reflects the effort and the “firm commitment” of the pig sector that , voluntarily, take a step forward.
