The Globus group has just announced on Monday that it has decided to part with nearly a hundred employees in its Zurich headquarters during the first half of 2020. Its general manager Franco Savastano made this decision public through a internal communication that the “Tribune de Genève” has obtained. “We very much regret having to take this drastic step. However, this is unfortunately inevitable if we want to secure the future, ”it says.
To justify these redundancies, management cites several reasons. First, “negative operating results” for five years. Then a market which has been deteriorating “for some time now” as well as increased pressure on the average price segment. “We should also not forget the significant reductions that the crisis due to the Coronavirus brings for the retail sector.”
In addition to these job losses, management also wants to continue “rationalizing” its network of branches. “Concretely, this means that we are considering closings and / or at least the partial sale of specialized formats.”
The social partners were informed with the aim of bringing out a “complete” social plan, always according to management.
