Economy / Business.- Gransolar is awarded the construction of a 204 MW solar project in Australia

MADRID, 14 (EUROPA PRESS)

Grupo Gransolar has reached an agreement with Sojitz and Eneos Corporation to carry out the ‘turnkey’ contract (EPC), as well as the operation and maintenance (O&M) of a 204 megawatt (MW) solar project in Australia, reported the company.

Specifically, the project, called ‘Edenvale Solar Park’, will be located in Chinchilla, 300 kilometers from Queensland, and represents the seventh installation that the Spanish company is awarded in the country, where it already exceeds 750 MW contracted.

‘Edenvale Solar Park’ will produce around 425,000 megawatt hours (MWh) per year, enough energy to cover the electricity demand of 60,000 homes.

It will also prevent the emission of approximately 300,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, the same amount generated by around 83,000 vehicles.

The managing director of Grupo Gransolar in Australia, Carlos López, highlighted that signing seven contracts in the country represents “a success to be proud of and that is the result of the magnificent team that the group has at its disposal.”

Around 450 employees will participate in the construction of the project, which is expected to be operational in mid-2023, and subsequently with the operation and maintenance. In addition, according to the company, a group of 16 indigenous workers will be trained to carry out the ‘O&M’ tasks contracted for a minimum of two years, which could include an extension of another 15 additional years.
