Economy. Business failures: third month on the rise

Like March (+ 9%) then April (+ 73%), May (+ 18%) signs a third consecutive increase in the number of receiverships or judicial liquidations compared to the same months in 2020.

Cumulatively since the start of the year, the number of failures has fallen by a further 14% due to the good figures for January and February (-40%). However, the volume of proceedings remains twice as low compared to the same period in 2019 (804 against 1,546).

Barely half of the companies that failed in May had complied with the obligation to declare insolvency within 45 days, a sign of an old fragility not always identified or the disappointed hope for a better tomorrow.

If more than one bankruptcy in ten concerns a mason, the traditional restoration remains spared.
