The concessionaire, a business unit in Peru of the Aleatica firm, has begun the execution of its project that includes the installation of 201 photovoltaic lighting systems in the ovals that are in operation on road network 4.
Autopista del Norte, concessionaire of road network 4 of the North Pan-American Highway (Pativilca – Santa – Salaverry section), has found a way to apply solutions linked to sustainability to address safety on the roads. This thanks to the installation of a lighting system that will operate with 100% renewable energy.
The concessionaire, a business unit in Peru of the Aleatica firm, has begun the execution of its project that includes the installation of 201 photovoltaic lighting systems in the ovals that are in operation on road network 4.
“All LED lights are highly resistant, but most importantly, they are supplied with 100% renewable energy, making us the first concessionaire nationwide to implement a lighting project, purely with solar energy,” explains Álvaro Mellado, Director of Operations and Road Safety at Aunor.
The company manager emphasizes that sustainability and safety are part of the company’s culture, which is why they opted for this solution to address the safety conditions on the roads they manage.
At the moment, the installation of the luminaires in the Tortugas (Casma) and Samanco (Santa province) ovals has already been completed. However, the project also includes the lighting of the Paramonga and Huaraz (Barranca), Huambacho and Vesique (Santa province) and Chavimochic and Morín (Virú) ovals.
“The objective of this project is to provide a better night driving experience to the user and mitigate the occurrence of accidents that occur due to the visibility factor,” he noted.
Present sustainability
There are other Aunor initiatives in its operations, framed in the use of clean energy, such as the operation of its aid posts installed for its users along the entire road, which are also powered by solar energy. This type of renewable energy through solar panels is also implemented by Aunor in its administrative offices, located in Nuevo Chimbote.
In line with the commitment to sustainability, the entire vehicle fleet used for on-road supervision of the company is electric, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
