Economist believes in economic growth with the inauguration of the New Airport – Jornal OPaís

Ciel da Conceição believes that the inauguration of the New Airport, scheduled for November 10 of the current year, will attract more businessmen to the country, a stimulating environment for the desired economic growth

Experts believe that the inauguration of the New Airport, scheduled for November 10, will attract more businessmen to the country, but the economic model, the difficulties of access roads and the high price of taxes may not favor economic growth. Economist Ciel da Conceição believes that the emergence of this infrastructure will boost the growth of cities and boost business, tourism, as well as exchanges between countries.

“In addition to bringing passengers, airports have a very important component, which is logistics, which transport cargo, mail and telecommunications and all the elements necessary to make the economy of a city or country work,” he said. It warns of the need to complete the access roads before the inauguration, to facilitate the process of moving people and transporting goods. Businessman Brás da Silva, on the other hand, referred that in economic terms Luanda International Airport, Dr. António Agostinho Neto, is an added value, but that the means of communication may affect due to the lack of alternatives.

For him, the roads that connect the airport to the other neighborhoods or municipalities should be completed a year before the inauguration so that they are not done in a hurry. “Everything that is transport infrastructure should have been completed a year ago. Transport for our populations is not done with ordinary cars, but buses, trains and subways ”, he underlined. “Economic model is not favourable” However, fiscal officer Francisco Silvestre understands that the economic model, the difficulties of access roads and the high price of taxes will not favor the desired economic growth.

“The economic fabric needs these people to encourage national production, but there is no favorable economy and the perspective we are drawing will not be easy to achieve”, he said. For Francisco Silvestre, with the inauguration of the New Airport, new prospects for access to the Angolan economy arise, people interested in producing in the country, more jobs, but will find a discouraged national business class. “The priority should not be attracting people to Angola, but the economic model that can allow Angolans to grow. We are transferring the opportunity for other people to invest and putting the Angolan behind”, he stressed.
