Rudolf Minsch, chief economist of the organization for the promotion of liberal interests announced in the columns of the Handelszeitung on Thursday that the forecast for 2020 would soon be reduced to 1.0%, against 1.2% currently.
The economist recalls in particular that the weight of China in international trade has doubled since 2003 and the episode of Sars. An apex survey of several thousand Swiss companies suggests fears of bottlenecks in the supply of components, notably electronic, from the Middle Kingdom.
These concerns do not yet concern a majority of companies, but their number continues to grow, said Minsch.
Swiss companies are also seeking to reduce their dependence on the global Chinese factory, notably prospecting in Vietnam or Pakistan in search of alternative suppliers.
