The British brand MG, now owned by the Chinese from SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation), debuts on the Romanian market this month. Although the new importer has not yet officially announced the beginning of the activity, it is certain that the MG and Maxus models are brought to Romania through the company Quantum Auto Max SRL, registered in the summer of this year.
As there is no official announcement of the start of import activity yet, the prices of the models in the portfolio have not been revealed either. However, according to LifeNews.roone of the dealers in the Quantum Auto Max network has published the new offer, including the price catalog.
Thus, at Rădăcini Motors, the MG HS models are already available for sale to Romanian customers – both in the version with a thermal engine and in the one with a plug-in hybrid system (PHEV), the MG ZS, and the electric MG 4.
In the case of the MG HS, we are talking about a compact SUV with a length of 4.61 meters, a width of 1.87 meters and a height of 1.68 meters, dimensions close to those of models such as Renault Arkana, Volkswagen Tiguan or Hyundai Tucson . For propulsion, the car uses a 1.5-liter turbo engine that develops 162 hp, can provide acceleration from 0 to 100 km in 9.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 190 km. The car complies with Euro 6 pollution standards with CO2 emissions of 174 gr./km.
According to Rădăcini Motors, the price with VAT of the MG HS 1.5 T-GDI model, with automatic gearbox, in Exclusive equipment is 28,100 euros.
At the same time, the version powered by a plug-in hybrid system (PHEV), MGeHS, has the same gasoline-powered engine, but also a 122 HP electric one powered by a 16.6 kWh battery that can be charged in 4.5 hours from a 3.7 kW socket. Thus, the total power of the car is 258 hp, and the time for the acceleration from 0 to 100 km drops to 6.9 seconds.
For these performances, those who want an MG eHS in exclusive equipment must pay a catalog price of 39,600 euros, which, through Rabla bonuses, can drop to 33,200 euros.
A long-awaited model on the Romanian market is the MG ZS. This subcompact SUV with similar dimensions to Dacia Duster – 4.32 length/1.80 width/1.65 height vs. 4.34 length/1.80 width/1.69 height – is sold in two variants. The most affordable of these is the MG ZS Excite which, equipped with a 1.5-liter VTI engine developing 106 HP and a manual gearbox, costs 18,450 euros including VAT. Through the Rabla program, this price can decrease, up to 15,850 euros.
The more equipped and more powerful version of the MG ZS, the one equipped with a 1.0-liter turbo engine that develops 111 HP and an automatic gearbox, costs, in the Exclusive equipment, 23,100 euros.
Finally, the praised MG 4 electric model – which is equipped with a 64 kWh battery and an electric motor that develops 204 HP (150 kW), and the maximum autonomy announced by the manufacturer reaches 435 km – costs 36,400 euros in Romania, an amount that , through the Rabla Plus and Rabla programs, can be reduced to around 25,000 euros. For now, the dealer’s offer includes only this variant of the MG 4, but the manufacturer also sells models with 51 kWh and 77 kWh batteries in other European countries.
For those who do not know the MG 4 EV model, it must be said that it has dimensions (4.28 length/1.83 width/1.50 height) close to those of the Volkswagen ID.3 or the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric.
