In an interview on the ABC TV program Conexion Tributaria, Mendelzon affirmed that vaccination is necessary and vital to reactivate consumption. He indicated that for some time now, the economic reactivation can be seen in the vast majority of sectors or categories of products and services in the country. However, he recognized that the alert of a new wave of COVID-19 continues to be a threat and that, to avoid this, citizens must be immunized.

“We see a latent danger, we follow the pandemic very closely. What happens in Europe, about the third wave of COVID-19, that is a threat that we must take with great responsibility. It is a concern of Public Health, and non-compliance with the measures comes with a battery of reasons, basically because people in general are very tired, jaded, of the punctilious compliance with health protocols and, on the other hand, there is no economic condition one that might even mention the possibility of re-confinement. That is unthinkable. Neither from the social or economic point of view, there is no possibility, “he said.
“What we are seeing is that there are vaccines. Salud is acting with mistakes and successes, but there is a significant segment of people who are reluctant to be vaccinated for various reasons. An important band of people is not immunized and that means a latent danger and that is more serious than the reactivation, more serious than the economy, this is about human lives ”, he pointed out.
“Vaccination, necessarily, must go hand in hand with reactivation. This parallelism is what the business community is not seeing ”, he added.
Mendelzon stressed the fact that a significant number of people have not yet been vaccinated and refuse to do so.

“We were very critical of the government’s management in regards to obtaining vaccines, but it turns out that today we have vaccines with the risk that they will expire, but there is a segment that does not go to the vaccinations. There may be young people who feel very strong, but they can infect a grandfather, a father and we have already lost more than 16,000 lives. It was too painful an impact so that, having the vaccines, we did not reach the vaccination goal, “he said.
“People have to understand that vaccination is the only way to minimize the risks of ending up in intensive care or death. There is no way to stop the economy that is rolling. The only weapon is vaccination ”, he concluded.
