Mexico City. The Chamber of Deputies will vote on the 2025 economic package before December 13, reported the president of the Political Coordination Board in San Lázaro, Ricardo Monreal.
Interviewed after leaving the meeting that President Claudia Sheinbaum had this morning with legislators from Morena and allied parties, the leader of the guinda party deputies stated that this package for next year will be voted on no later than December 13, that is, before the constitutional limit set on December 31.
He explained that the decision seeks to generate economic certainty and avoid nervousness in the markets.
“Tomorrow at ten in the morning the Economic Package will be presented and an entire process will begin until December 13, we want to close on December 13. The analysis of the income law, fiscal miscellany and expenditure budget, on December 13, is a proposal that we have made with several coordinators and we are going to promote it very strongly,” he stated.
The Morenoist legislator indicated that in addition to giving certainty to the markets, the aim is to ensure that there is peace of mind in having the budget for 2025 before the end of the year.
The session calendar initially approved in the Chamber of Deputies provided that the ordinary closing of sessions would take place on Wednesday, December 11; However, it could be extended two more days if the approval of the economic package is left until the 13th.

**Given the expedited timeline for voting on Mexico’s 2025 economic package, what are the potential risks to effective public consultation and inclusion of diverse stakeholder perspectives?**
## World Today News: Mexico’s 2025 Economic Package Under Scrutiny
**Host**: Welcome back to World Today News. Today, we delve into Mexico’s political landscape and discuss the upcoming vote on the 2025 economic package. Joining us are two esteemed guests: **Dr. Sofia Ramirez,** economist and professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and **Mr. Javier Gonzalez,** political analyst and commentator for El Financiero newspaper. Welcome to both of you.
**Dr Ramirez & Mr. Gonzalez**: Thank you for having us.
**Host:** Let’s begin by examining the timeline. Dr. Ramirez, the Chamber of Deputies aims to finalize the vote by December 13th. How significant is this expedited timeline, and what challenges might arise from such a tight schedule?
**Dr. Ramirez:** The proposed timeline is indeed ambitious. Rushing this process could mean insufficient scrutiny of the package’s content and its potential impact on various sectors of the economy. A robust debate and thorough analysis are crucial to ensure the package truly serves the best interests of the Mexican people.
**Host:** Mr. Gonzalez, you’ve been closely following the political developments surrounding this economic package. Can you shed light on the motivations behind this accelerated timetable and the potential political implications?
**Mr. Gonzalez:** The government’s stated intention is to provide economic certainty and avoid market anxiety. However, this move may also be a strategic decision to minimize potential opposition before the 2024 presidential election.
**Host:** Interesting point. Dr. Ramirez, how does this expedited timeline potentially impact public trust and transparency in the decision-making process?
**Dr. Ramirez:** Transparency is fundamental for building public trust. A rushed process raises concerns about whether all stakeholders, including civil society and business groups, have had adequate opportunity to voice their perspectives and concerns.
**Host:** The article mentions the goal of ensuring “peace of mind” by finalizing the budget before year-end. Mr. Gonzalez, what are the potential economic risks associated with delaying the budget approval beyond the constitutional deadline?
**Mr. Gonzalez:** While the constitutional deadline is December 31st, delays can create uncertainty and negatively affect investment decisions. Furthermore, a protracted debate could politicize the budget process and hinder the timely implementation of key economic policies.
**Host:** Dr. Ramirez, focusing on the content of the economic package, what are some key areas you’ll be watching closely for potential impact on the Mexican economy in 2025?
**Dr. Ramirez:** I will be particularly attentive to proposed changes in taxation, investment incentives, and social spending. Balancing fiscal responsibility with social needs will be a critical challenge for the government.
**Host:** We are edging closer to the vote. Mr. Gonzalez, how do you anticipate the voting process unfolding, and what potential compromises might emerge?
**Mr. Gonzalez:** Given Morena’s majority in the Chamber of Deputies, the package is likely to be approved. However, amendments and compromises may be negotiated with allied parties to address specific concerns and secure broader support.
**Host:** Thank you both for providing expert insights on this crucial topic.
**Dr Ramirez & Mr. Gonzalez:** It was our pleasure.
