Economic Licensing Process for 1st Bundesliga Women: Updates, Requirements, and Final Decision by October 4th

The economic licensing process for the 1st Bundesliga Women is ongoing. The grace periods for submitting additional documents are currently running. The Licensing Committee of the Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) is aiming for a final decision on the licensing for the coming season by October 4th.

VBL managing director Daniel Sattler explains: “The situation is challenging in several locations, but still manageable. The licensing committee and those responsible at the clubs will work together to meet the licensing requirements. As long as all clubs fulfill their responsibility for joint competition and their options for ensuring profitability, I am currently confident that all 10 teams will receive a license for the coming 2023/24 season.”

The measures that the licensing committee will decide on in the coming days include extensive requirements and conditions to protect the entire competition as well as possible sanctions such as point deductions or fines for offenses from the previous season.

Sattler concludes: “Pleasingly, there are also Bundesliga clubs who, despite the challenging economic conditions and price increases, have recorded increasing sales revenues and positive development and have therefore received the license without any conditions.”
