Leading economic institutes have had to revise their forecast for the gross domestic product in 2021 down from 3.7%. Instead, it is significantly lower at 2.4%. This is mainly due to the acute material shortages in the industry. In contrast, the institutes are all the more optimistic for 2022: The upswing originally forecast for 2021 will be postponed to 2022. For the coming year, the scientists expect a gross domestic product of 4.8% instead of 3.9%, as originally forecast in the spring.
