Libreville, September 29, 2023 (AGP) – The Prime Minister of the transition, Raymond Ndong Sima, received, this Friday, a delegation of Turkish investors led by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Gabon, Nilufer Erdem Kaygisiz, accompanied of the CEO of the DESIBA ENERJI Company, specializing in electrical energy, Ulkan Delikan.
The exploration of investment opportunities offered by Gabon, in particular the construction of a 20 MW solar power plant in Mouila, provincial capital of Ngounié (South), by the Turkish company Désiba, constituted, among other things, points to the agenda for this meeting.
It must be said that the electricity sector is one of the priorities of the head of state of the transition, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. The latter wishes to quickly find solutions to the problem of water and electricity supply in Gabon.
For the Head of the Transitional Government, it is an important pilot project for Turkish-Gabonese relations, which must respect their commitments.
“These Turkish investors are partners in Gabon’s development and it was an opportunity for the head of Turkey’s diplomatic representation in Gabon to reaffirm her country’s desire to support Gabon in reviving its economy,” said Raymond Ndong Sima.
This meeting increasingly marks the interest shown in Gabon in terms of investment opportunities on the part of major economic powers.
Turkey’s presence in Gabon is reflected in the existence of its embassy (whose head of mission resides in Libreville), a school created by the Maarif Foundation (Turkish-Gabonese Maarif School), located in the north of Libreville and a commercial office of the Turkish Airlines company.
