ECLAC affirms that Latin America suffers the worst economic contraction due to covid-19 | Chronicle

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) observes that the region suffers the worst economic contraction due to covid-19, reported this Tuesday the executive secretary of the agency, Alicia Bárcena.

“Latin America is the region most affected by the covid-19, concentrates 32 percent of deaths despite being 8 percent of the world’s population, and we have the worst unemployment that has occurred in 100 years, the worst economic contraction in history, “said Bárcena during the inauguration of the summit of the Puebla Group, a political and academic forum of the Latin American left, which will take place until this Wednesday in Mexico City.
