With 100% scrutinized, Écija has also been the scene of a change of color in its City Council in these 2023 municipal elections. The PP has prevailed in the elections for absolute majority, with 11 councilorsfive more than the PSOE, which has obtained 6. The popular ones have had 8,943 votes (45.83%), while the socialists have obtained 5,126 votes (26.7%).
The rest of the formations that have obtained representation are: FU.E., with two councilors, (1,846 votes, 9.46%); With Andalusia, with 1 mayor (1,341, 6.87%); and Vox with another mayor (1,243 votes, 6.37%)
For these elections have been presented seven candidacies in the Astigitana town. The socialist candidate for mayor of Écija in these elections is Sergio Gomez, current delegate of Urbanism, Socioeconomic Development and Environment in the City Council of Ecijawho won the primaries held in December 2022.
For the PP, the list was headed by Silvia Heredia, deputy of the PP in the Andalusian Parliament; while for Vox the candidate for mayor is Inigo Pablo Osuna; by With Andalucía Izquierda Unida and Podemos Écija, the candidate is Eligio Garcia; by Citizens Moses Bermudo; by Fuerza Ecijana (FUE) Angel Garcia; and Forward Andalusia Juan Manuel Luna.

In 2019, the Socialists prevailed again by repeating the results, with eight councilors, compared to the seven that the PP obtained, while Fuerza Ecijana (FUE) achieved two councilors. The other four councilors of the 21 that make up the local government of Écija were one each for Cs, IULV-CA, Vox and Podemos.
As for the local governments that the municipality has had, two parties have shared almost exclusively the Mayor’s Office of Écija in the more than 40 years of democracy. The PSOE and the PA have alternated power legislature by legislature except for the one between 2011 and 2015, in which Ricardo Gil-Toresano Riego became the first, and so far only, mayor of the PP in the municipality astigitano.
In total they have been seven mayors and 188 councilorsthose that the Écija City Council has had in the eleven municipal legislatures that have been held since April 19, 1979.
