The motive for this shooting could be linked to a debt the victim owed to one of the people responsible for the deal point on which she was working. A 20-year-old man, suspected of having injured a man with a firearm at a deal point in Échirolles (Isère) last August, was indicted for “attempted murder by an organized gang”, it was reported. the public prosecutor of Grenoble, Éric Vaillant, Wednesday November 6, confirming information from the Dauphiné Libéré.
On August 6, a man was found seriously injured in Carrare, an apartment building in Échirolles, known to be one of the main drug deals in the city. The victim, a 26-year-old man of Tunisian nationality, was injured in the femoral artery after being shot. He received 21 days of ITT.
“His 19-year-old cousin, also of Tunisian nationality, was also nearby,” said Éric Vaillant. Traces of blood and “several impacted 9 mm Luger caliber cases” were found at the scene of the shooting.
Not an “escape”, but “a simple vacation”, according to the suspect
Entrusted to Grenoble police officers, the investigations led to the arrest, on October 29, of a 20-year-old man at his home in Beaumont-lès-Valence (Drôme). The latter, who was “already known to the courts, in particular for possession of drugs”, “had left for the Maghreb just after the shootings”, explained Éric Vaillant. A 9mm caliber handgun was found at his home during the search.
Questioned by investigators, the young man “said he was completely unaware of the facts with which he is accused” and “denied having fled to the Maghreb, claiming that it was a simple vacation,” continued the prosecutor. Concerning the weapon found at his home, “he admits that this weapon was at his home but refuses to explain further,” added Éric Vaillant.
He was indicted, Thursday, October 31, for “attempted murder by an organized gang” on the injured young man and “violence without ITT with a weapon” on the latter’s cousin. He was placed in pre-trial detention on Tuesday November 5. According to the Grenoble public prosecutor, “the motive for the shooting could be a debt from the victim who worked at the deal point, to one of those responsible for this deal point”.
Le Carrare, the building in Échirolles where the shooting took place, was evacuated last month, after being declared uninhabitable due to security concerns linked to drug trafficking.
