REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said there was no urgent need for vaccine doses booster for those who have been vaccinated with the first or second dose. In this regard, more data on the duration of protection after full inoculation are needed to recommend the use of booster injections.
“Additional doses may be considered for people who experience limited response to standard regimens. These injections should be treated differently from booster doses,” the ECDC said Thursday.
Germany and France have announced they will start delivering booster to people who are susceptible and immunocompromised starting this month to protect its citizens from the more contagious variant of Delta. As previously reported, the US Government has also begun to administer the third dose of Pfizer Inc (PFE.N)-BioNTech and Moderna Inc (MRNA.O) vaccines to immunocompromised individuals.
