ROME (ITALPRESS) – The euro area economy remains weak. It is likely to remain weak in the remainder of 2023. However, as inflation falls further, real household incomes recover and export demand from the euro area increases, activity is expected to strengthen in the next years. This is what emerges from the ECB’s latest economic bulletin.
“Recent data indicates that manufacturing sector output has continued to contract. The modest foreign demand and the tightening of financing conditions are increasingly weighing on investments and consumer spending – underlines the European Central Bank -. The services sector is also showing a further loss of strength, mainly due to the spread of the weakening of industrial activity to other sectors, the weakening of the stimulus resulting from the effects of reopenings and the widening impact of higher rates of interest”.
