On a work visit to Benin, Dr. Ngone DIOP, Director of the ECA Sub-regional Office in West Africa, was received in audience on Thursday, May 25, 2023 by Mr. Salavator NIYONZIMA, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System (UNS ) in Benin. After fruitful exchanges between the two personalities, the Director proceeded to the signing of the Collaboration Guide between the UNS as a whole and Benin for the period from 2023 to 2026: an act of commitment by ECA to support Benin.

Almost a week since the Director of the ECA Sub-regional Office in West Africa (BSR/ECA/WA, Dr. Ngone Diop) is in Benin with her staff as part of a regional workshop to build the capacities of executives and experts. on Budgeting Sensitive to the Demographic Dividend (BSDD) in collaboration with the Consortium rRegional Council for Generational Economic Research (CREG). This training brought together In effect, five executives from five countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, Senegal and Togo) who work under the supervision of around ten CREG experts.
On the sidelines of this five-day workshop, the Director is received in audience in the Office of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Benin. The exchanges between the two personalities focused on ECA projects in progress and to come: “The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is a member of the United Nations System (UNS) and as such, it therefore has ambitious projects in Benin. We then discussed the activity in progress, the activities already executed, those in preparation and ongoing programs, ECA support for the acceleration of Benin’s development; because ECA is part of the whole United Nations family in Benin” declared the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Benin, Mr. Salvator NIYONZIMA.
Regarding the signing of the Collaboration Guide between the UNS as a whole and Benin, Mr. NIYONZIMA specified:“ It is the Framework for Cooperation between the United Nations System and BSR/CEA/AO. This is therefore our guide to collaboration between the UNS as a whole and Benin for the period from 2023 to 2026. The ECA being a member of the country team, even if it does not have a presence here (Editor’s note: in Benin), it has a diplomatic presence, as such, it is a signatory of this document. This means that it agrees to engage with the rest of the United Nations entities to support Benin”.
