The Red Devils were able to count on Felix Bick in goal and Taylor Vause up front in the 2-1 win in Freiburg. These two Bad Nauheimers played a big part in the three-pointer.
(Like this). EC Bad Nauheim did not play its best game of DEL 2 against EHC Freiburg on Tuesday night. But it was eventually successful. The Kurstädter im Breisgau prevailed 2-1 (0-0, 0-1, 2-0) and could count on the scoring qualities of Taylor Vause and the reactivity of Felix Bick.
In the first half much of the action took place in front of the EC goalkeeper. Freiburg were optically overweight, but have not yet created great chances. In the eighth minute, Bick defused a 2-1 draw for Wolves against Konstantin Bongers. Jackson Cressey tried his backhand (17th), but was only the second winner against the EC goalkeeper. On the other side, Michael Bartuli had fired the first semi-dangerous projectile towards the EHC goal (14′) from a central position. Overall, the Red Devils acted carelessly.
Afterwards, Wolves rewarded themselves for their refreshing first third. Top scorer Tor Immo used the second powerplay and scored his 13th goal of the season with an eye – 1:0 (23rd). As a result, Bad Nauheim struggled a bit. After the third EC deficit, coach Harry Lange’s team was able to stay longer in the third of the hosts. The footage of Marius Erk and Patrick Seifert remained unheard (29′). The subsequent attack by EC with the criminally left alone Andreas Pauli also brought nothing to the Wetterauers (30th).
In these cases, the opponent often punishes the lack of effectiveness with his own strikes. However, Wolves failed to extend their lead, even though Alexander De Los Rios (38th) was close to it. Nikolas Linsemaier hit the post just a minute later, missing the best chance of the period.
The Wetterau made a lightning start in the final third. With picture book play, the EC’s first line of attack undermined the home side’s defence. From Fabian Herrmann, Jerry Pollastrone went straight to Vause, who in turn needed just one touch to push the hard rubber over the line to make it 1:1 (41st). Bick made a spectacular save nine minutes later as he reached further and further into Linsemaier, who was cornering him, and defused the puck with his catching hand. The people in front of him also helped and wanted to keep the wolves in one shot. Undaunted, Mick Köhler launched into a shot by David Makuzki (52′).
In an open game, the hosts were a little closer to the winning goal in the closing stages. However, this was achieved by the Lange team. In the 54th minute, Christoph Körner fired the puck straight through the EHC’s third striker. He saw Vause, who scored again from a position similar to his first goal – 2: 1. Wolves brought in the sixth player onto the field but couldn’t get past Bick.
