The district is preparing for a long-term legal dispute over its small tax haven in the Ebersberger Forest. The money that the district wrongly collected in the opinion of the tax office, plus the interest accrued in the meantime, he now wants to pay to the state capital, as finance manager Brigitte Keller confirmed on request. As reported, the Ebersberg tax office recently announced that the trade tax income from the so-called sea grass pound in the Ebersberger forest is not due to the district of Ebersberg, but to the city of Munich. Specifically, it is about the years 2007 to 2010 and 14.25 million euros in business tax and a further 9.27 million euros in interest.
However, it is now too late in the district of Ebersberg to pass a supplementary budget for this year, which would probably have been tried if the announcement from the tax office had been received earlier in the year. That is why the deficits will be shown in the annual financial statements, said Keller. Because substantial provisions for earnings had been made in recent years, the long-term performance of the district – an important principle in public budgets – was not endangered. However, there could be problems with liquidity, said Keller. The problem with the seagrass barrage will definitely be a topic in the budget meeting of the district council – but in the non-public part. But there will certainly also be a political discussion about the consequences for the district.
