Some Melburnians were released from their 14-day isolation after the health department updated their recommendations for a public exposure site.
On Sunday, health officials listed Elite Swimming in Pascoe Vale as a « Tier One » exposure location from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on February 8, meaning people at the venue had to be tested and isolated for two weeks during that time, regardless of the outcome .
In an update on Tuesday evening, however, the health department only downgraded the exposure point at 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., which is now listed as « Tier 1 » and must be isolated for 14 days.
The change means those who were at the venue between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on February 8th were immediately released from their 14-day isolation period.
The health department has now listed Elite Swimming as exposure sites for the second stage from 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and on February 8 at 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Visitors to the venue during these periods were « urged » to undergo testing and isolate until they get a negative result.
The health department said it had adjusted the times following further research and analysis of the public health risk.
« This change will delete a number of primary close contacts, » the department said.
« It is now only a Tier 1 site for the period from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. As a precaution, half an hour on both sides of this period is listed as the Tier 2 exposure site time. »
The health department said there were 407 close key contacts to date with the Elite Swimming and Oak Park Sports and Water Center, also in Pascoe Vale.
The health department said the two new locally acquired cases were family members of previously diagnosed cases and were already isolated at home on Tuesday.
« Because these new cases have been quarantined during their likely periods of infection, there are currently no new public exposure sites associated with these cases, » they said.
