EBEL: Looking back at 17 years of EBEL / Part 2: The record players! – Hockey-News.info

Thomas Koch was on the ice in almost a fifth of all games in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League in 17 years. The 36-year-old striker is the absolute leader with 909 games completed. Vienna’s Philippe Lakos (851) and Koch team-mate Patrick Harand (847) followed in second and third place.

On February 12, Thomas Koch reached an unprecedented milestone in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League: In the 3: 4 overtime loss to Moser Medical Graz99ers, the 36-year-old played his 900th game in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League – see above many like no other.

At the end of the canceled season, the seasoned player stopped at 909 games and won the all-time statistics with a season lead. Koch was involved in two teams in his EBEL career: he led both the EC Red Bull Salzburg and the EC-KAC as captains on the ice. For two seasons (2004 – 2006) he played with Lulea HF in the Swedish SHL.

Thomas Koch was selected as the first MVP of the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League for his outstanding performance in the 2008/09 season.

Second place in the ranking is followed by Philippe Lakos, a veteran of Vienna: the now 39-year-old defender holds 851 games – 792 of them for spusu Vienna Capitals, 59 for HC TWK Innsbruck “Die Haie”, which he won in the 2008 / 09 reinforced. In the past season, the multiple Austrian national team player only made four appearances in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League.

As a result, Patrick Harand – who is also three years younger than Lakos – came very close to the number of games played in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League. With 847 games, the native of Vienna, who was involved in four clubs in his EBEL career, came third. Harand has been playing at the EC-KAC since 2012.

With Daniel Oberkofler (835) and the two already resigning Manuel Latusa (826) and Robert Lukas (803), only three other players in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League played more than 800 games.
