EBAU 2020, maximum separation, surveillance and confined examinations | Radio Club Tenerife

The two Canarian universities are holding meetings to coordinate a security protocol that allows them to carry out the EBAU with guarantees. Given that the guidelines they were expecting from the Ministry of Health did not reach them, today they have a new meeting to outline the details of their own plan to face the first massive call that will take place in this country since the alert was declared by coronavirus. Among the most obvious measures, maintain greater separation from students. The boys who are going to do the tests will have to be very clear before arriving at the campus where they have to take their exams, because there will be triple or quadruple classrooms than in other calls.

Assuming that the exams are done in the facilities of the universities themselves (which is not clear), they would have to enable all the available campuses, this time … In the Ulpgc where there may be more difficulty would be the Tafira campus and in the ULL, in the one in Anchieta. But both would have to be put into service for this purpose, for the first time.

However, other possibilities have been considered and are still being sought. In Tenerife, for example, in the Fairground. But despite the availability of the Cabildo, it has been ruled out because the health authority does not want the field hospital that has been installed there to be dismantled. Although it was not necessary, fortunately, they prefer that it be ready in case there is a regrowth.

Both universities foresee that there are more students than last year, because it is expected that (given the special circumstances) in the institutes they will ‘pass their hands a bit’ in the final exams of Bachillerato. Only in the ULL, they calculate that they will have more than 1,000 extra students. And doing it in a wide space with open access is the way to ensure that they do not crowd when you have to prove your identity when entering each of the exams.

Logically, they will have to hire more teachers to control the tests. Triple, at least, of course. And reinforce the vigilantes who are in the outer spaces to make sure that everyone complies. One of the things that they will have to watch out for, by the way, are the bathrooms, so that no more than two people enter at a time. And the cleaning service must also be reinforced, because the classrooms will be disinfected between tests and tests and the toilets, every hour.

All this involves much more expense. So much so, that in the centers they are throwing numbers because they suspect that it will not be enough with the obtained of the exam fees.

Regarding personal hygiene measures, all workers must wear PPE. And the students, mask and gloves, but the question remains of who looks for, buys and pays for that equipment. Hydroalcoholic gel dispensers will also be located in hallways and classrooms.

And what is going to happen with all those exams, with all those papers, that so many people have played? Well, they are confined … Once done, the exams will remain in quarantine for 24 hours before they are distributed among the teachers who will correct them, since the virus is supposed to last on paper. If anyone wants to take them on the go, it would have to be their responsibility.
