VIVA – Surprisingly, a study revealed, consuming egg regularly has been associated with increased risk diabetes. The study found that people who ate more than one egg a day (roughly 50 grams) were 60 percent more likely to have high blood sugar levels blood sugar diabetes.
The study, published in the British Journal of Nutrition, has examined dietary trends and diabetes in China, where people regularly ate more than double the number of eggs during their study period.
Study authors, Dr Ming Li and Dr Zumin Shi, note that eggs are not the only aspect of the diet that has changed over the two decades of their research.
“Over the past few decades, China has experienced a substantial nutritional transition that has seen many people switch from a traditional diet consisting of whole grains and vegetables to a more processed diet that includes more meat, snacks and energy-dense foods,” said dr. With this note, egg consumption is a sign of an increasing number of people consuming heavy foods, meat and ultra-processed foods.
Doctor Li has subsequently examined the role of processed foods in China’s obesity epidemic more closely. The results of research on eggs and the effects of their consumption are very diverse.
