Eat: 95% of post-vaccine reactions are mild; two adverse cases are analyzed

The head of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS), Francisco Coma detailed that a study is currently being carried out of two cases of possible adverse effects of vaccines against Covid-19 and that in most cases very mild symptoms have been registered .

TWO CASES WITH MORE SERIOUS REACTIONS

The official explained that 95% of the cases are of very mild reactions and “we basically have two cases that are a little more serious,” said Coma.

He added that in order to analyze the cases with the most severe reactions, there is a Committee that evaluates before proceeding to the stage of the claim and compensation processes.

The Committee for the Evaluation of Serious Adverse Reactions to Vaccines is in charge of carrying out the respective investigation, and issuing the corresponding opinion in which it is established, in each specific case, whether or not the analyzed reactions can be attributable to the vaccine or not. against Covid-19, in order to establish whether such circumstances should be compensated through the compensation mechanism or not.

COMMITTEE AND FORMS OF COMPENSATION

This Committee is made up of five people: three representatives from the MPSAS, one representative from the National Council for Immunization Practices (Conapi) and one from the Guatemalan Association of Infections Diseases (AGEI).

Of the forms of compensation for the affected persons. First, if the person has been hospitalized, they will be compensated as follows:

With his hospitalization in the establishments of the hospital network, guaranteeing the necessary care and medicines.

For each day of internment, recovery and rehabilitation, the equivalent of the daily minimum wage for non-agricultural activities will be given.

Second, if the person suffers from a persistent or significant disability or incapacity, they will be awarded a financial contribution equivalent to 10 minimum monthly wages for non-agricultural activities.

Finally, it is established that if the person dies, whoever makes the claim before the committee will receive a payment equivalent to 15 minimum monthly wages for non-agricultural activities.

It was also determined that in the cases in which the affected persons are beneficiaries of the Guatemalan Social Security Institute, the specific legislation of that entity will be applied to them.
