The new service provides that the traveler can register his luggage directly at home and then receive the suitcase upon arrival at the hotel or at his accommodation in the city, reports Avianews.
European low-cost airline easyJet offers passengers a new service that will solve luggage problems – it is reported that the traveler will be able to check in his luggage directly at home and then receive his suitcase upon arrival at the hotel or at his accommodation at the destination.
Passengers no longer have to go to the check-in counter at the airport to hand over their luggage or receive it at the arrivals hall – couriers do it for them. The service is provided by Airportr in partnership with easyJet.
For now, the service is limited – luggage is collected at home before the flight and delivered to the address in the city of arrival only for passengers flying from London Gatwick Airport to Geneva. Luggage home delivery in London costs from 43 euros, and luggage delivery to the specified address on arrival in Geneva costs from 46 euros.
If a passenger is flying from Gatwick or Geneva on any other easyJet route, they can check their luggage home, but they will have to collect their bag themselves in the arrivals hall on arrival.
On all easyJet flights to Geneva, passengers can collect their luggage upon arrival – in this case, the courier picks up the suitcase from the baggage carousel at Geneva airport and delivers it to the specified address.
The new service is included in the more expensive Flexi fare – EasyJet passengers with these tickets can book free baggage check-in at home when flying from Gatwick or Geneva Airport.
For other customers, EasyJet provides the service for a fee. In some cases, the price of luggage delivery exceeds the cheapest air ticket price, for example, if a flight from Gatwick to Geneva on 23 January 2024 costs €34, door-to-door luggage delivery on this route costs €89.
A similar service is already available – in July 2023, one of the world’s largest air carriers, Air France, announced that passengers flying from Paris can now not take their luggage to the airport, but hand it over directly to the French capital or its suburbs within 30 up to 4 hours before the plane’s departure.
The service is available in five hotels in Paris and major exhibition centers. The airline also reportedly plans to provide a home baggage drop-off service.
The service can be used by travelers flying from France’s largest airport – Paris Charles de Gaulle. It will be possible to check in your luggage in the city when departing from Paris Orly Airport.
You have to pay for the remote registration of suitcases for the flight – 25 euros for one suitcase, 35 euros for two.
Passengers who will check their luggage in the city will be able to control the location of their belongings using the airline’s mobile application.
