Easyjet leaves most of the fleet on the ground

The British airline Easyjet is now leaving the majority of its fleet on the ground from Tuesday (March 24). That was the result of the border closings, travel restrictions and changed travel advice due to the spread of coronavirus, the company said on Friday in Berlin.

As in the past few days, Easyjet will continue to operate flights to bring customers back home. The majority of this repatriation program should be completed by Monday, it said. Easyjet recommended that passengers abroad be rebooked on these return flights before Monday.

Minimal program remains

A minimal program for important connections will be maintained on some routes, Easyjet announced. This particularly affects flights to, from and within the UK. This leaves a maximum of ten percent of the usual capacity.

The flight schedule will continue to be reviewed weekly to ensure that it meets demand. The company waives all rebooking fees for customers who want to postpone their flight to a later date. Passengers on canceled flights would be contacted and informed of their options.
