Easyjet has announced an agreement to join US company Jet Zero in its decarbonisation studies.
Easyjet has joined Jet Zero in the works of this for the Design and launch of a zero-emissions fuselage-wing aircraft which will use hydrogen as fuel. With this agreement has become the first European partner of the American company.
Jet Zero has the support of the USAF and NASA in its worky It hopes that its aircraft using conventional engines can enter service by 2030. that they can evolve, in subsequent versions, into ones that can burn hydrogen instead of kerosene, such as the engines that Rolls-Royce is developing, and in which Easyjet is also a partner.
With its fuselage wing design compared to the traditional winged tube, Jet Zero estimates that it will be able to reduce consumption and emissions by 50 percent just through aerodynamic efficiency.
Coinciding with this announcement, Easyjet has made public the results of a survey commissioned by them, who point out that 71% of Britons believe zero-emission technologies such as hydrogen are the best option to decarbonise air transport.
He 50 percent of them want the aviation industry to invest in new technologies to reduce its emissions and maintain the benefits of air transport. Two-thirds of these also indicated that would be more willing to fly on airlines that take active steps to reduce their carbon footprint.
He 53 percent of respondents also said they would like the new UK government to offer greater support to accelerate and prioritise the transition to zero-emission flying..
Easyjet is one of the most active airlines in decarbonisation projectsactively participating in numerous ongoing projects of companies such as the one mentioned above Rolls-Royce o Airbus.
