The Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals will feature last year’s winner Canada, runner-up Italy, host country Spain, and wild card Czech Republic (recommended by the organizer), as well as the preliminary round in April of this year. A total of 12 countries, including Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and the United States, will compete to become the best in the world in a tournament format. The match will consist of two singles matches and one doubles match, with the winner being the first to win two matches.
Great Britain defeated Germany in the first round to advance to the final eight and will face last year’s champions Canada in the quarterfinals. In the first singles match, Raducanu faced off against R. Marino (Canada), with Raducanu successfully breaking him four times and winning 6-0, 7-5.
In the second singles match, Boulter faced off against L. Fernandes (Canada). Boulter successfully broke Fernandez five times against Fernandez, who recorded nine double faults. He hit seven service aces and was only broken twice, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.

Fernandes: “It was an incredibly difficult match because the dynamics were so different in each set. Rebecca (Marino) really stepped up in the second set.”
Boulter: “First of all, I want to say it’s very easy for Emma to win and go 1-0. I’m really proud of the way I played today. I just wanted to come out here and… I just wanted to really take on the defending champions and get a big win.”
Great Britain will face Slovakia in the semi-finals. Slovakia advanced by defeating Australia 2 wins and 0 losses in the quarterfinals. The semi-finals between both countries will be held on the 19th.

Q: Welcome to our interview series about the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals. Can you please introduce yourselves and discuss your respective roles within the national tennis team?
Guest 1: Hi, my name is Emma Raducanu and I’m currently ranked as number 77 in the world by WTA. I had the privilege of representing Great Britain in our match against Canada in the quarterfinals of the BJK Cup Finals. This was my first time playing in such an important tournament for our country.
Guest 2: Hi, I’m Katie Boulter and I’m currently ranked 58th in the world by WTA. It was an honor to represent Great Britain alongside Emma in the BJK Cup Finals. My role in the team was to play in both singles matches against Canada, which I did with great determination and focus.
Q: You’ve both had significant wins against Canada in the quarterfinals of the BJK Cup Finals. Can you share your thoughts on the match and how you managed to secure these wins?
Guest 1: The match was incredibly intense and challenging. Our opponents played a fantastic first set, but I was able to fight back and secure a victory in the second set. It was a difficult balance between maintaining my composure and pushing myself to perform at my best, but I’m thrilled with the outcome.
Guest 2: Absolutely! It was definitely a team effort. We both came out strong and supported each other throughout the entire match. I think our morale was high because of the team spirit we’ve built up throughout the competition. It was a tough match against a talented opponent, but I was able to capitalize on her mistakes and take advantage of my opportunities to secure the win.
Q: You both faced tough opponents in singles play. How did you manage to stay focused and maintain your level of play?
Guest 1: I think it really helped that we had each other’s support on the sidelines. Knowing that Katie had also won her match gave me extra motivation to go out there and give it my all. Plus,
