One of the causes of pneumonia is Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria or commonly called pneumococci, which can cause infections in brain tissue, lung infections and bacteria in the blood.
This bacterium is also the cause of osteomyelitis or bone infection, peritonitis or infection of the inner lining of the abdominal wall and endocarditis or infection of the inner lining of the heart.
So that the pulmonary specialist at the Friendship Hospital in Jakarta, said to increase the body’s immunity and prevent pneumonia, one of them can be vaccinated against pneumonia in Indonesia.
This is in accordance with the results of a study published in Plos One in 2017 and a study in the United States in 1999 showing that the pneumonia vaccine in the elderly provides benefits.
These benefits include fewer hospitalizations for pneumonia, reduced doctor visits and savings in immediate medical care costs.
Besides that, dr. Erlina also explained the importance of implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle.
