The Eastern Health Assembly launched the mental health rehabilitation and training program for nurses, which is held in the Irada and Mental Health Complex in Dammam, which lasts for 8 weeks, including theoretical and practical aspects, with a focus on studying the impact of training after completing the program.
The President of the Health Academy and Executive Director of Nursing Professional Development at the Sharkia Health Cluster, Dr. Adel Harb, in a press release, stated that the program contains 5 main axes, which are the basic principles of mental and psychological health, pharmacological and non-drug interactions, mental and mental health emergencies, psychological and mental conditions in children, adolescents, women and the elderly, and ethical and legal cases and affairs related to Psychological and mental health.
Nursing care services
Harb stated that the main objective of the program is to prepare, train and develop nurses with high efficiency, to provide health care nursing services specialized in the psychological and mental aspect.
He continued: The number of trainees in the first batch reached 16 Saudi trainees, to be the first batch to obtain a certificate that qualifies them to work in the psychological and mental field.
He stressed that those in charge of the educational program as speakers are Saudi nurses who possess a master’s degree in the field of psychological and mental health, in addition to field experience that qualifies them for training in the program, and this keeps pace with the global trend on the importance of the trainers in educational programs being specialists.
