The women’s team enjoys the advantage of home-court for their next two games, while the men’s team embarks on a challenging road trip. Meanwhile, both tennis programs are also gearing up for crucial matches.

Women’s Basketball: Home Stretch for Eagles

Eastern washington’s women’s basketball team, currently on a three-game winning streak following a thrilling 63-60 victory over Idaho, will host Northern Colorado on Thursday, feb. 20, at 6 p.m. PT, and Northern Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. PT. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.

The Idaho game saw a dramatic finish. Eastern built a double-digit lead,but Idaho rallied to tie the game at 60 with just over a minute remaining. After a missed shot by the Eagles, Idaho also missed, but grabbed the offensive rebound. though, Alexis Pettis stole the ball and quickly passed to Peyton Howard for a game-winning layup, followed by a successful free throw. Howard led the Eagles with 19 points, while Pettis contributed 13.

earlier this season, Eastern fell to Northern Arizona, 75-63, with Jaecy Eggers leading the team with 16 points, and lost to Northern Colorado, 66-57, where Kourtney Grossman recorded 17 points and 17 rebounds. The Eastern Washington men’s basketball team, currently on a four-game winning streak, will face Northern Colorado on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 5 p.m.PT, and Northern Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. PT. Their recent victory over Idaho was a nail-biter, ending with a 75-73 win.The game was close throughout, with Idaho holding a narrow lead. Marquardt’s hot shooting and Cook’s late free throws helped Eastern tie the game at 73-73. In the final moments, Cook sank two crucial free throws to give the Eagles a 75-73 victory—their first lead of the game.

Mason williams leads the Big Sky Conference in free throw percentage (86.1%), while Nic McClain ranks first in steals (2.09 per game) and fifth in assists (3.65 per game). Emmett Marquardt is fourth in blocked shots (0.84 per game). In their last game, Andrew Cook scored a career-high 29 points, with Marquardt and Sebastian Hartmann also contributing double-digit performances. Women’s Tennis: Clash with Portland Pilots

Eastern Washington’s women’s tennis team (2-5) will face the Portland Pilots (1-3) on saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. PT. The Eagles are coming off a split road trip to Boise, losing 7-0 to Boise State before securing a 7-0 victory over the College of Idaho—their first road win of the season. “The girls felt overall good about their energy and their teamwork and have been training hard to get that win and will use it to build confidence as we move forward to our next match,” said head coach Dustin Hinson.

Men’s Tennis: Hawaii Bound

Eastern Washington’s men’s tennis team will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii, for a pair of matches. They’ll face Hawaii Pacific (2-0) on Friday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m. PT, and the University of Hawaii (2-7) on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. PT. This will be the first-ever meeting between EWU and Hawaii Pacific. The Eagles and University of Hawaii will meet for only the second time, with Hawaii winning the first matchup 6-1 in 1995.

The Eagles recently lost 7-0 to Idaho in a non-conference match. Though, Tyler Dalos and Caden Kammerer impressed in the No.1 doubles match, securing a 6-2 victory. This was Dalos’ ninth career doubles win and Kammerer’s third of the season.
