MILANO – For Easter lunch families will spend an average of 75 euros. This is what the Coldiretti/Ixé survey “Easter 2024 of Italians at the table”, carried out on the eve of the holiday, highlights. 86% of families will celebrate at home (60%) or with relatives and friends (26%) while only 9% will go to a restaurant or on a farm, with 3% having a picnic in the open air. An average of 6 people will sit at the table, again more or less like last year.

Two hours on average for preparing meals
According to the survey, it will take an average of 2.1 hours to prepare lunch, with a clear tendency to favor traditional menus. Among those who will try their hand at cooking, 55% will keep the operations between 30 minutes and 2 hours, 26% will go to 3 hours, while 11% will reach 5 hours. The most representative food of the Easter tradition remains lamb, served at one table in 3 (33%) in homes, restaurants and farmhouses, but there is no shortage of eggs, with consumption in Holy Week being around 300 thousand.
Favorite dishes
The winners, as always, are the traditional recipes from North to South, such as the stringy gnocchi in Piedmont, the chicken broth and boiled egg soup and the pappardelle with rabbit ragù in Tuscanybut also the Corallina, a typical salami accompanied by cheese pizza eaten for breakfast throughout Lazio. If passatelli are de rigueur in Romagna, in Molise it is the Happy Easter salad with green beans, hard-boiled eggs and tomatoes. And if in Puglia the prince of the table is the Cutturiddolamb cooked in broth with typical Murge herbs, in Veneto they are typical these e sparasihard-boiled eggs, decorated with wild herbs, while in Trentino Easter meatballs with minced lamb
