KOMPAS.com – Planet Earth, like the other planets in the solar system, rotates on its axis and revolves around the Sun.
The rotational motion of the Earth is divided into two, namely: Earth Rotation and the revolution of the Earth.
Reported from National Geographic, The following is an explanation of the Earth’s rotation.
Earth Rotation refers to the rotating motion of an object on its own axis.
The time it takes the Earth to make one rotation is 24 hours with an inclination of 23.45 degrees from the plane of its orbit around the Sun.

As the Earth rotates, each area of its surface gets a turn facing each other and is warmed by the Sun.
This is vital to life on Earth because the Sun affects everything from weather to health.
If the Earth did not rotate, half of the Earth would always be hot and sunny while the other half would be frozen and dark.
The residual momentum from when the planets formed kept Earth, and all the planets in the solar system, spinning.
When the solar system formed, many particles moved and clumped together.
The particles form a rotating mass. This mass eventually split into different objects, namely planets, moons, asteroids, and comets.

All these objects revolve around the sun. In addition, all planets maintain their own rotating motion, including Earth.
The Earth rotates on its axis at a speed of about 1,600 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, the Earth revolves around the Sun at a speed of 107,800 kilometers per hour.
Reported from Learning Resources Ministry of Education and Culture, the following are 3 Earth’s rotation effect:
1. The rotation of the Earth causes the process of sunrise and sunset. This is called the apparent motion of the Sun.

2. Due to the rotation of the Earth, each region of the Earth gets a change of day and night with unequal distribution due to the angular tilt of the axis of rotation.
3. The rotation of the Earth also causes differences in the gravitational force of the equatorial and polar regions.
