As a country that is included in the Pacific Ring of Fire, Indonesia has dozens of active volcanoes that can erupt at any time. Knowing the composition of the Earth’s mantle and changes in magma can explain the process of volcanic eruptions.
Researchers from Uppsala University, Sweden, now better understand how the Earth’s mantle is structured in certain regions and changes in magma prior to eruptions. This was determined by conducting chemical analyzes of minor minerals in lava from Bali and Java. This study report was published in the journal Nature Communications, June 24, 2021.
